Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Why should we care, it's just a cell. It's not a person. These and many other answers may be the response we hear concerning Embryonic Stem Cell Research (ESCR). But we must care, and God calls us to care. From the moment of conception we are fully human, (Psalm 139:13–15; Jeremiah 1:5) We are created in God's image. To destroy Embryonic Stem Cells is to murder, no matter how good the intention (Romans 3:8) We must not think in terms of "it", this is a person we are talking about. Someone who has as much right to live as you and I, and yet in our whirl wind world of technology we have forgotten that there are issues in life that are bigger than us. We need slow down and take time to consider the weighter matters in life, the big questions, the moral issues. Abortion has killed millions of babies, how many are we willing to kill in our attempts to cure disease. You can read more about stem cells and the related research at Answers in Genesis. Please care, please think, please pray.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

David Peterson (c) 2010
In the mid 1800's a man by the name of Wolcott purchased a mill in Macomb County, Michigan. The mill provided at good living for his family and he prospered. The central power source for the mill was a 12 foot water wheel. Without this source of power the mill would have been useless.

Christians are much like a mill in that we need a power source, and the source of our power is the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 tells us "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." The power we derive from the Holy Spirit gives us the ability to follow God's command, and to be His witness in our own home towns, to people we meet, even to the uttermost parts of the world. In order to receive this power we must accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.

If you are a Christian, I hope that you take advantage this great power. The power of the Holy Spirit can live and work through you as you spending time with God. If you are not a Christian, but you find that you have a yearning for something better in life, then fly to God this minute and through the power of the Holy Spirit, accept the forgiveness which only comes through Jesus Christ, confess and repent.
